Applications Engineer
Location: Beaverton, OR
Contract length: ~4 months
Schedule: Hybrid (onsite M-TR, WFH on Fridays)
Pay: $61-63.33/hr, DOE
The Planet Group is looking for a Applications Engineer to join our well-known retail brand on a roughly 12-month contract! This role is 40 hours per week and will be working a hybrid schedule out of their Beaverton, OR office, working from home on Fridays.
Applications Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and minimum of 8 or 9 years directly relevant work experience
- Note: One of the following alternatives may be accepted: PhD or Law + 6 yrs; Masters + 7 yrs; Associates degree + 9 yrs; High School + 10 yrs.
- Proficient in AWS, Azure, GitHub, Puppet, Jenkins, SUSE Linux
- Basic knowledge of SAP, TerraForm is a plus
- Proficient in scripting and use of configuration tools
- Ability to work with a team but also able to work independently
- Able to be flexible and adaptable in role
Applications Engineer Description:
- Develop code, configure applications, and define job schedules for high-risk, highly complex requirements
- Install software and software updates for critical systems
- Execute and responsible for the deployment of code across environments
- Approve and conduct design and code reviews
- May review and approve test plan, test execution, and validation of test
- Create critical-path, high-risk, advanced and/or cross-functional technical designs
- Collaborate with other teams on integration needs/design
- Contribute to database design and ensure consistent technical approach within the department
- Participate and contributes to the client's overall architectural footprint, direction, and standards
- Take a technical approach within the department

- Perform application support, problem solving, and issue resolution with internal and external resources
- Contribute to technical solutions by performing technical analysis and identifying options and solutions
- Contribute to the RFP process
- Identify technical issues and determine options for issue resolution and risk mitigation
- Define and communicate requirements for technical environments and determine the technical scope for projects
- Create and apply architecture, governance, security, and global process standards to system changes and deployments

- Establish, maintain, and apply coding/configuration standards and best practices
- Conduct performance monitoring and analyze performance against benchmarks
- Analyze business requirements and create performance testing scenarios that ensure application performance meets customer needs
